First of all, I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome I have received. I really appreciate the way the Jr. Irish family has accepted me with open arms.
My focus is on player development at the grass roots level. I believe a club is only as strong as it’s youngest age groups so I have dedicated much of my time and effort into our Academy this fall. I have made an effort to get out and see every team play or train and I have even been able to jump in and train some of the teams.
I love to win like anyone else but it’s not the true measure of a player or a team. I judge a player or a team on their performance not on their result. I feel there is too much emphasis placed on getting wins at a younger age and it hinders a players’ development. I have preached to our coaches to teach the game the way it should be played and not compromise that to get a win. Wins will come by developing our young players to correct way and give them a technical skill set to allow them to play at a high level.
For the older players in the club, my goal is to place EVERY player who wants to continue their career in college to a program that fits their needs. I have spent almost 20 years coaching at the collegiate level and have made many friends who can benefit from recruiting Jr. Irish players. I am excited to share my knowledge of the college game and the recruiting process with our college bound student-athletes.
Finally, I want Jr. Irish to be a family and work to bring everyone together. We are one club playing under one banner. I want to create an atmosphere that all Jr. Irish teams are proud of each other and support each other. This club is made up of some amazing people who truly care about the soccer community.
It’s an honor to be the Director of Coaching at Jr. Irish and I hope to get the chance to meet everyone this season!
