Jr. Irish Super Y Program

What is Super Y?
Founded in 1999, Super Y is a nation-wide youth league operated by the United Soccer Leagues (USL), which is the largest organization of elite soccer leagues in North America. Affiliated with US Soccer, the Super Y-League contains the youth academies of Major League Soccer clubs, USL PRO clubs, Premier Development League and W-League clubs. Divisions within Super Y are organized geographically, and membership in the league is limited to only a few elite programs to ensure strong competition.

Jr Irish Soccer Club is a member of the Midwest Division and will play 8 regular season games.

What teams will play in the Super Y League?
The teams will be made up of players in two-year combined age groups.

      Boys 2006 (Open to 07’s and 06’s)
      Boys 2004 (Open to 05’s and 04’s)
      Girls 2004 (Open to 05’s and 04’s)
      Boys 2002 (Open to 03’s and 02’s)
      Girls 2002 (Open to 03’s and 02’s)
      Boys 2000 (Open to 01’s, 00’s, and 6 99's)
      Girls 2000 (Open to 01’s, 00’s, and 6 99's)

Who is eligible?
The selection process will have a few stages in order to assure the best players from Jr. Irish compete in the Super Y league.

Stage 1:  An email will be sent to current Jr. Irish players in the appropriate age groups with an “intent to play” link.  The program is open to any player regardless of club but we cannot direct email players outside of Jr. Irish.
Register your Intent to Play here  Deadline to Register your intent to play is April 23, 2018

Stage 2:  All players who have completed the intent to play form will be considered the player pool to choose from.  Selections will be made by the coaching staff with input from the current Jr Irish coaching staffs.

Stage 3:  Any player outside the club that wishes to be considered can complete the intent to play and the staff will do it’s best to get an evaluation on the player.

Stage 4:  Offers will be sent on April 20, 2018 and players will have 3 days to accept their Super Y position and pay the deposit of ½ the fees.

Since the entire season is outside of the school year, the High School 6-player rule DOES NOT APPLY.  This has been cleared by the IHSAA.

What are the fees?
The fees for the 2018 Super Y season will be $400 per player.  The fee includes the following:

  • Super Y League Fees
  • Individual Player Registration Fees
  • Coaching Registration Fees
  • Referee Fees
  • Field Rental / Neutral Site fees
  • Coaching Salary and Expenses
  • Performance Bond

All fees MUST be paid in Full by June 15, 2018.

What Uniforms will be needed?
Each player that will play Super Y will need to purchase a white and a Green Super Y Jersey.  They are not the same jerseys Jr. Irish uses in season since they need to include the Super Y Logo.  We will wear the normal Green and Back game shorts as well as the Green and White Game socks.

Who is the Coaching Staff for Super Y?

  • Ken Nuber:  USSF National B License, Former University of Saint Francis Head Coach and former Notre Dame Women’s Assistant Coach.  Ken is the current Executive Director of Jr. Irish.
  • Justin Crew:  USSF National B License, Head Women's Soccer Coach Ancilla College, Head coach FC Indiana Professional team.  Justin is the current 2000 Girls Premier coach.
  • Jay Freymiller:  USSF National C License, Former Argos High School Head Coach and current Assistant Coach at Ancilla College.  Jay is the current coach of the 2001 Girls Premier and the 2002 Girls Premier teams.
  • Tory Newberg:  USSF National D License and current Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Ancilla College.  Tory is currently the coach of the 2003 Boys Premier team.

The coaching staff will work with all teams throughout the summer to give each player the opportunity to connect with different coaches.

What are the advantages of playing Super Y?

  • Super Y is a Regional League and an opportunity to match up against the best clubs in the Midwest.  The level of competition is high and it offers our players the chance to play against clubs we do not typically see in the regular season.
  • The Super Y program will be coached by a staff rather than a single coach so they can learn from different coaches and get different feedback.
  • The Super Y opportunity is less expensive than other summer opportunities including camps and other leagues.
  • Super Y has a program called USLX where the 72 best players are invited to a 4-day residential camp at a professional clubs complex.

What is the League schedule like?
Schedules have been posted for each team.  Although they are subject to change, I do not anticipate much adjustments occurring.

What is the Training Schedule?
There will be a minimum of 10 training sessions throughout the summer.  Coaches may add additional if needed.  Times are posted on each individual teams schedule page.

Monday June 4                        Wednesday June 6
Tuesday June 12                      Thursday June 14
Tuesday June 19                      Tuesday June 26
Tuesday July 3                         Tuesday July 10
Tuesday July 17                       Tuesday July 24

What are the North American Nationals?
The North American Nationals is where Super Y brings division winners together to play for a national championship.  This event typically occurs in December at the world-renowned IMG Soccer Academy in Bradenton, FL. Kingdom SC Super Y teams that qualify for this event will be charged an additional fee to cover their coach's travel expenses and any pre-finals training costs at an indoor training location.

The Super Y-League North American Finals is regarded as one of the top youth soccer events in North America. It is a five-day tournament that includes more than 130 of the best U12 to U18 boys’ and girls’ soccer teams from the US and Canada. Teams qualify from their respective regions throughout North America. All teams that earn a berth to the North American Finals are separated into 3-4 Brackets of 4 teams. The top teams from each bracket advance to the Semi-Finals and on to the Finals, in hopes of becoming North American Champions.
