Jr. Irish COVID Protocols

January 2021

Jr. Irish families,

I hope everyone is happy and healthy!

As we head into the 2021 winter training season, we have been working diligently to create a safe and healthy environment for all of our Jr Irish families.  We are working closely with Soccer Zone to assure that there is cleaning and disinfecting between training times as well as no other groups in the facility during our time.  Soccer Zone management uses “fresh air” ventilation systems on each side of the facility.  We have asked them to look into higher MERV rated filters (MERV13/14) for their heating system and they have assured us that they are focused on safety.

Due to the COVID pandemic, we have put in place some requirements and suggestions for our Winter Program.

Requirements

  • All players must complete the Winter Training policy and waiver.
  • A player cannot attend a training if they are showing ANY symptoms such as cough, sore throat, headaches, shortness of breath, or loss of taste or smell
  • When in doubt, keep them home.
  • A player cannot attend training and the parent must contact Henry Vu and Ken Nuber immediately if…
    • Anyone (including the player) in their household has been tested for COVID.
    •  Anyone (including the player) in their household has been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID.
    •  Anyone (including the player) in their household has been quarantined for close contact or contact tracing.
  • All players must wear a mask when entering and exiting the facility.  Masks can only be removed when the actual training session begins.
  • All Coaches will wear a mask at all times.
  • NO SPECTATORS IN THE FACILITY.  Parents are asked to drop off and pick up from the parking lot.

Suggestions

  • Players are welcome to wear a mask during the training session.
  • Limit the amount of additional activities this winter.

In addition, we ask that players come to the facility ready to train and only bring in their own water, hand sanitizer, and a coat if needed.  We want to limit bags and other gear from the facility if at all possible.

Similar to the training schedule this fall, players are asked to enter the facility just 5 minutes prior to the start of the session.  We have scheduled a 10-minute break between training sessions in order to sanitize the areas and equipment and allow the players to leave the facility before the next group arrives.

All of these precautions are put in place to create the safest environment possible while offering winter training.  We have always felt that winter training is an important part of a player’s development but with the pandemic, we support any decisions not to participate.  We just ask that it be communicated to your coach for planning purposes.

We had a very successful fall season!  Even with the cases we dealt with, we saw no COVID spread among our teams. With things going indoors, we need to become extra vigilant with our behaviors/decisions to keep COVID spread at bay and we ask for your flexibility as everything is tentative.

Thanks for your continued support of Jr. Irish!
