Jr. Irish Super Y Program

What is Super Y?
Founded in 1999, Super Y is a nation-wide youth league operated by the United Soccer Leagues (USL), which is the largest organization of elite soccer leagues in North America. Affiliated with US Soccer, the Super Y-League contains the youth academies of Major League Soccer clubs, USL PRO clubs, Premier Development League and W-League clubs. Divisions within Super Y are organized geographically, and membership in the league is limited to only a few elite programs to ensure strong competition.

Jr Irish Soccer Club is a member of the Midwest Division.

What teams will play in the Super Y League?
The teams will be made up of players in two-year combined age groups.

      Boys 2006 (Open to 07’s and 06’s)

      Girls 2002 (Open to 03’s and 02’s)

Who is eligible?
The selection process will have a few stages in order to assure the best players compete in the Super Y league.

Stage 1:  An email will be sent to current Jr. Irish players in the appropriate age groups with an “intent to play” link.  The program is open to any player regardless of club but we cannot direct email players outside of Jr. Irish.

Stage 2:  All players who have completed the intent to play form will be considered the player pool to choose from.  Selections will be made by the coaching staff with input from the current Jr Irish coaching staffs.

Stage 3:  Any player outside the club that wishes to be considered can complete the intent to play and the staff will do it’s best to get an evaluation on the player.

Stage 4:  Offers will be sent on April 20, 2018 and players will have 3 days to accept their Super Y position and pay the deposit of ½ the fees.

Since the entire season is outside of the school year, the High School 7-player rule DOES NOT APPLY.  This has been cleared by the IHSAA.

What are the advantages of playing Super Y?

  • Super Y is a Regional League and an opportunity to match up against the best clubs in the Midwest.  The level of competition is high and it offers our players the chance to play against clubs we do not typically see in the regular season.
  • The Super Y program will be coached by a staff rather than a single coach so they can learn from different coaches and get different feedback.
  • The Super Y opportunity is less expensive than other summer opportunities including camps and other leagues.
  • Super Y has a program called USLX where the 72 best players are invited to a 4-day residential camp at a professional clubs complex.

What is the League schedule like?
Schedules have been posted for each team.  Although they are subject to change, I do not anticipate much adjustments occurring.

What is the Training Schedule?
There will be a minimum of 10 training sessions throughout the summer.  Coaches may add additional if needed.  Times are posted on each individual teams schedule page.

Kingdom SC Super Y teams that qualify for this event will be charged an additional fee to cover their coach's travel expenses and any pre-finals training costs at an indoor training location.

The Super Y-League North American Finals is regarded as one of the top youth soccer events in North America. It is a five-day tournament that includes more than 130 of the best U12 to U18 boys’ and girls’ soccer teams from the US and Canada. Teams qualify from their respective regions throughout North America. All teams that earn a berth to the North American Finals are separated into 3-4 Brackets of 4 teams. Jr. Irish SC Joins SYL as Midwest Member

12/10/2017, 2:00pm EST

Indiana-based club will begin competing in Super Y League in 2018 season

TAMPA, Fla. - The Super Y League is thrilled to announce the addition of Jr. Irish SC as a new member ahead of the 2018 season. The northern Indiana-based club will compete in the Midwest Division, playing at the Jr. Irish Soccer Complex.

“We couldn’t be happier to expand our Midwest presence with the addition of Jr. Irish SC,” said the USL’s Associate of Business Development Dominic Colarusso. “The Super Y League is proud to provide another home for young players to continue to develop and grow in Indiana.”

Founded in 1977, Jr. Irish SC has a rich tradition of success spanning decades in the state of Indiana. The club’s ambitions include providing options for the development of young athletes in the Midwest and ensuring that all families have access to a high-level competitive environment in which to grow and improve year-round.

“Jr. Irish Soccer Club is excited to join the Super Y League,” said Jr. Irish SC Executive Director Ken Nuber. “The Super Y League offers a very competitive environment that is a great match for the club. Jr. Irish continues to separate itself from other clubs in the area based on results and the constant vision to improve what it offers its players. We have had individual teams play in Super Y League previously and have enjoyed the experience.”

Jr. Irish SC becomes the third club announced for the upcoming 2018 season, joining Ohio-based CUSA Crew SC and Florida-based FA Euro Academy and will compete in the Midwest Division. They join Indiana Elite as the second Indiana-based club competing in the Super Y League.

“The league offers the club an excellent environment for our teams over the summer months,” Nuber said. ”The Super Y League’s national platform will offer our players opportunities for growth and exposure. It allows us to compete with clubs from across the Midwest that we typically do not get to compete against. Programs such as the USL Experience will offer our players additional opportunities for exposure and a unique opportunity to be seen on a national platform.”
